Train Fans Unite! Support the Historic Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in TrainStation Games
At TrainStation, we’ve always believed that trains are more than just machines – they are stories on wheels. They connect people, places, and history. That’s why we created the Save The Rails initiative: a way for our player community to help preserve real railways and the passionate people who keep them alive.
Our next stop on this journey takes us to the rolling hills of Exmoor in North Devon, United Kingdom, where a small but legendary narrow-gauge line is powered by passion, heritage, and steam: the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.

The Spirit of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway
Originally opened in 1898, this beautiful narrow-gauge railway once carried passengers through the stunning landscapes of North Devon and Exmoor. Though it closed all too early in 1935, its story didn’t end there. Thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, supporters, staff and rail enthusiasts, the line was reborn. Piece by piece, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust has been restoring the track, rebuilding locomotives and historic carriages, keeping the spirit of British steam heritage and this unique railway alive.
This is not just preservation – it’s passion made real.

Meet E762 Lyn – A Living Legend Reborn
At the heart of this railway’s revival stands Lyn, a truly special steam locomotive. The original Lyn, built by the Baldwin company in Philadelphia USA and shipped to the UK, served the line from 1898 until its closure, after which it was sadly scrapped, only the nameplates, headlamp and water gauge-glass protector surviving the scrapman. But in 2017, after years of careful design, craftsmanship, dedication, and teamwork, Lyn was reborn – a perfect new-build replica with modern engineering on the inside and 19th-century charm outside.
Lyn now proudly steams once again through the Exmoor landscape, inspiring thousands of visitors and showing what love for railways can achieve.
Together, We Keep the Rails Alive
